It’s a Rager: Raiders at DeathCon

Imagine this. You’re hanging out at a station with a badass telling you why these things called Raiders are terrible. Then suddenly, the radio nearby crackles, and music starts playing. The music gets louder and then you hear the war cries in the distance. The badass looks at you and says, “Buckle up, buttercup. It’s a rager.”

Today, we’re taking a closer look at the Frontline Field, the location where you’ll experience combat, adventure, and so much more at DeathCon.

What is a deathCon?

In Blacktide Hunter culture, a DeathCon occurs when there is a massive threat to an area. In this case, masses of Raiders have assembled at Gunstock, and are ready to kick everyone’s teeth in.

That’s where you come in. You and your friends will work with the Blacktide hunters to beat back the tide of Raiders — or decide to do other things to meet your own goals. After all, it’s still the post-apocalypse.

Trophies and more

In order to help with your immersion, we’ve given some specific Raiders actual trophies that you can take home with you (or give to the Blacktide Hunters). These trophies are all different colors, and each color corresponds to how much of a threat a Raider is and how rare it is.

With that being said, it wouldn’t be fun if you didn’t know what the colors meant in advance. That’s why we’re including a quick reference chart below, just so you know how much your particular trophy may be worth.

• White - This is your average Raider. These trophies won’t be on all Raiders all of the time, but will be available occasionally just so you can prove your mettle to the Blacktide Hunters.

• Copper - These are the “lieutenants” in the Raider field. They’re a bit more rare than the shock troopers that have the white trophies, and you need to be as tough as nails to claim one!

• Gold - These trophies are the leaders of the Raiders, and include the dreaded Warpath. These are some of the most intense Raiders on the Frontline field, and are all heavy hitters in their warband. There aren’t many people that will come back with a gold trophy.

• Red - You’re truly chosen (or have a death wish) if you manage to get a red trophy. These will be carried by the most intense Raiders on the Frontline field. Not only that, but Red trophies will be held by Directors and Owners of neighboring games who are portraying Raiders — so you can really get your bragging rights on.

Joining the Hunters

Part of joining the Blacktide Hunters is collecting a trophy, which is exactly why we’ve given them to the Raiders you’ll find in the Frontline Field. You’ll be able to engage in various different high-intensity scenarios throughout Saturday and into the evening, so make sure to join in early.

And don’t forget to keep an eye out for clues on the Frontline Field. Research is important at Gunstock, and may provide valuable clues behind what exactly is drawing the Raiders — or may unearth information about something else entirely.
